Design Philosophy

After spending many years in both the construction and enjoyment of cruising sail boats, we have chosen Robin Chamberlin as the designer of choice for our projects. Robin is a person that does not advertise, but for people in the know he is a truly well respected designer.

Chamberlin Designs don't cut corners using slab panel construction, hence Robin's designs incorporate lovely lines, which are extremely pleasing to the eye, and of course, also help to increase the strength ratios while being able to keep the vessels as light as possible.

We have built up a good working relationship with Robin, the designer, and always follow his requirements to the letter, so you can rest assured that we never deviate from any of the design construction requirements.

We are always careful with the choice of materials, utilising only quality products that we know will withstand the test of time. We have chosen cedar composite as our main hull material, although we utilise PVC foam, and good quality marine ply in the construction as well.

Our personal cruising has taken us off shore and from one end of Australia to the other, hence our personal requirements are always for vessels that are ocean capable, perform very well under sail and/or motor and are safe and easy to cruise in. Small items like having the shower floor above water level so that no pump out sumps are required, good standing headroom throughout the boat and easy access step access to cabins and head and showers.
